First Place Winner Black & White
“ No Better Way to Waste a Day” By: Jessica St. James Every time I return home to Tawas, no matter the season, there is one sight I always see, the activity and people on Tawas Bay. From fishing, sailing, jet skiing, swimming, wading in the water or simply sun and or moon rises. The bay seems to be the heart of the county.
Second Place Winner Black & White “Sisters” By: Vickie Durfee Tawas Point is the perfect spot to share a special moment with your sister. Dance in your bare feet like no one is watching and remember what it was like to be young and carefree. In our busy, hurried world there is nothing like spending a day on beautiful Lake Huron, in Iosco County.
Third Place Winner Black & White “Accessibility” By: Rebekah L. Ralls “Accessibility” was taken with my Pentex 2000, 35mm camera in the late fall of 2008. I took this picture at the Tawas Point State Park in Iosco County. It represents the extension of an inclusive community; a county where services, activities and the environment are accessible and inviting to all its members and guests. This is a picture of the beach ramp on the shores of the Tawas Point at the State Park. This ramp enables people with disabilities to have access to this beautiful environment. During the summer months, the ramp ends with a deck that is parallel to the shore.
