“Reflections at Tawas Point”

We have been coming to Iosco County by boat for over 30years. The Tawas Point light has always been one of our must visited attractions. A short dingy ride from the state dock brings hours of fun on the beaches with a hike to the light to top off the day. Truly: “A Slice of Life in Iosco County”.

Lake Huron’s sunsets bring stunning colors upon the water, from the time the sun begins to descend from the sky, to the moment it disappears behind the horizon. This photo is under the category of digitally enhanced, because of the vast amount editing that was done to the light. The subject’s name is Chase, and the photo was taken July 2009, in Oscoda. The photo displays happiness from the subject. He is enjoying swimming in the delicate, sunset lit water. Lake Huron’s constant beauty is apparent in this photo.

Golden Emergence

This photo of a winter sunrise illustrates a slice of life in Iosco County mostly appreciated by the locals. Tawas Bay with its historical lighthouse can be hauntingly beautiful in the chill of a Northern Michigan winter season.

Railroad Trestle over Tawas River

The railroad trestle, over the Tawas River, has both historical significance and offers a visual representation of life, past and present, in Iosco County. The railroad and the river have been important to Iosco County since the lumbering era.

Eagle takes Flight

This eagle doesn’t change admission. Just be in Tawas at the right place at the right time to experience this powerful bird as it surveys the Bay from a branch of an Eastern White Pine, the state tree of Michigan.

When one thing of Michigan they think of lakes, and when one thinks of Iosco County they think of Lake Huron.   Which brings me to the wonders of Iosco County lakes and the moon rising, what can be more beautifully then that? Other places may have trees, grass and mountain type structure, but water that is the pure beauty and driving force of life and at night when the moon shines in its brilliance leading the way.  Tawas Bay in Iosco County combine this beauty with everyday live as you drive, walk or go grocery shopping it is there to greet you with a smile.

On Top of the World

Iosco County is a strong agricultural community. It supports diversified crops. Children growing up on farms realize hard work, and can enjoy the rewards and recognition in 4H and at the county fair.

On windy days waves from Lake Huron crash against anything in from of them.  Sprinkling you with cool droplet’s of water. This photo was taken in July 2009, in Oscoda, near the pier. It shows the lakes clean, clear and delicate water clashing with wooden posts on the water. The water crashes against the post, and forms sculpture like forms and shapes in the air. This photo portrays Lake Huron’s water as graceful, and eye catching.
